St. Gabriel Students share the clothing they collected.
Students at St. Gabriel Middle School recently partnered with the Society to collect clothing donations for the SVDP Thrift Store. The students' religion club, the St. Gabriel’s Archangels, sponsored the school's 1st annual “Bless You Blue Jean” drive. The event was a 100% student led drive. The Archangels hosted the clothing drive in order to let students show what they learned in religion class and within their spiritual lives in order to make the drive a success on their own without the help of parents and teachers. Through the drive, the students demonstrate that they are independent, responsible, and compassionate stewards of creation.
In total, the St. Gabriel middle schoolers collected over 1000 pieces of clothing. In a friendly competition between grades, the 6th graders came out on top by collecting almost 550 pieces of clothing. Congratulations, 6th graders!
