Home > SSVDP > Friends of the Poor Walk 2017

The Diocesan Council of Austin is hosting its annual Friends of the Poor Walk fundraiser on October 28, 2017 at the Vincentian Family Center and Thrift Store.  We welcome and encourage volunteers, community partners, and Society supporters to participate.

The Friends of the Poor Walk is a national program SVDP USA to help local conferences (volunteer groups) to raise funds for their programs. During the Friends of the Poor Walk, participants walk in solidarity with those experiencing poverty, raising awareness and providing financial support for our work serving Central Texans in need. We will offer two different tracks for those who want to participate: a short walk route around McBee Elementary School and a longer route for those who want to run.

The Friends of the Poor Walk also will serve as the kick-off for our very first fall festival at the Vincentian Family Center! We’re planning some great Halloween and fall fun for the whole family, so be sure to mark your calendar.

To register as a walker or make a donation to the walk, please visit our Friends of the Poor Walk page. Feel free to email Director of Marketing and Development Katie Conyers at katie@ssvdp.org with any questions regarding this great event, including how to get involved.
